Play and Learn Session with the Early Years Alliance 

Why not come along for some fun activities, ideas, songs and stories for you and your little ones to enjoy together and learn through play.   

There is no need to book. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Computer Skills

These classes are great for those wishing to gain more computer skills for anything from getting your own email address to internet shopping! One important need for computer skills is for Universal Credit which will be administered online. Everyone on benefits will need to know how to use a computer so we are offering basic classes to help with this. We are now working with Bradford College to deliver these courses which means that we can offer students the chance to gain accredited qualifications.

English for Speakers of Other Languages

Also 12.15 – 2.45 Monday ESOL Pre-Entry Level Shipley College

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) is designed to help people learn or improve their ability to speak or write English. We have a number of different options available depending upon your ability. We are working with Shipley College which allows students to gain accredited qualifications in ESOL.

• Basic Skills Pre-Entry, Entry Level 1 , 2 and 3 and now Level 1
• Building Confidence in Speaking English
• English Workshop

It is really important to attend every class. Please do not make appointments when you have a class. If you prioritise your ESOL classes you will make good progress and then you will be able to communicate more easily, which will help you day to day. We have long waiting lists for classes and therefore if you do not attend, your place will be given to someone else.

Pick and Mix Activities

Not sure what you would like to do – well come and try a whole range of different activities at our very popular Pick and Mix session. We have a vast array of sports equipment and a huge variety of games and ideas. Our big hall allows the children to have a great time whatever the weather. The session is fun and safe. Our staff have DBS clearance and experience of delivering high quality sessions.

The Friendship Centre

Our long established day centre offers 20 places 48 weeks a year. The centre provides for older people in the Otley Road and Undercliffe area. We are constantly striving to offer a mix of regular activities, such as a hot meals, transport, knitting and snacks, along with an imaginative programme which stimulates, challenges, informs, and introduces new experiences. The attendees have identified needs that we aim to meet, such as intergenerational projects with our in-house nursery and holiday playschemes, curling, exercise, and talks from various local services. The older people who attend value the social interaction which contributes to the support some need in order to continue living independently.

New Start

Every Wednesday morning we meet together at 10.30am and do some art with Anna from HIVE, we talk about our experiences and maybe learn a little more about life in the UK. We have an interpreter from the community. Local refugees and asylum seekers are very welcome. During the drop-in we will try to help or sign post people to help.
